Duplicatio Collection

Duplicatio is an exploration of two identical in weight and shape and base material solid blocks of clay. The two similar blocks were compressed under a tension of a twist action. Form A fired in oxidation, while Form B fired in reduction, a process where the kiln atmosphere has insufficient oxygen for complete combustion. High temperatures produce carbon monoxide gas, which will steal loosely-bonded oxygen from other materials in the clay body, mainly iron and copper. This change in the surface by restricting oxygen represents the impact life experiences can have on us and what beauty may be revealed.
