Vicaria Collection
Vicaria are an abstract expression of a moment in time. The shadow of hope, strength, weakness, resilience, fragility, generosity and endurance. The original form has had nothing taken away, only displaced to represent a natural shift, representing our resilience and perseverance. When the clay is displaced and pushed beyond its limits, it exposes the impact of the invisible vulnerability.

Solid Porcelain slab with porcelain slipped gauze veil laminated between the two layers and the protruding form and oxide and glazed surface. Black clay shards surrounding. Fired in oxidation. Solid slab clay formed under pressure and tension. Glazed and fired in oxidation.
Scarred abstract surfaces symbolising life's varied experiences and the impact they have.
I enjoy the process of working in solid clay, exploring the materials limits and further my learnings in acceptance. Even through a very slow firing process to ensure structural integrity of each piece, delicate fissures and cracks appear. The forces of heat and vitrification reveal new scars, allowing an insight into the strength and beauty of mass under pressure and manipulation.
